Hello
Im trying to tunnel my SMB connection thru SSH using putty, and im not quite
sure if im doing it right.
I want to do this because first off, smb is not encrypted and second, SMB
ports are blocked by a firewall.
a little backround : Im running a Win2k Pro machine, and i want to be able
to mount via smbmount my shares from that machine, to a linux machine that
is protected by a firewall that blocks ports 135-139 and 445, inbound and
outbound.
I use Putty frequently to connect to it remotly and saw the tunneling
option, thing is i cant get it to work...
Can someone help me with that, ive tried reading the manual on port
forwarding but i dont think in doing it right.
So to recap, im trying to mount a drive to a linux machine over the net
using SMB tunneled thru SSH.
If you have a better way of mounting the shares on the linux server ( No
FTP, i want to be able to access that as though it was a VPN ) other than
smbmount, please let me know as well.
Thanks
Falcon
