PuTTY crashes W98se on exit

Hi,

On a freshly installed W98se system with all windows updates installed
PuTTY works fine, until I type 'exit'. Then I get an error message that
Explorer failed in kernel32.

Since I never had a problem with this on another W98se system I guess it's
a W98 problem (What isn't?)-: but does anyone know what it is exactly? Any
particular dll to check or so?
