Hello everyone,

Ok, im going to be as quick as possible but at the same time provide
you with enough information in hopes of helping me with my little problem.

I running Mandrake 9 on one computer. Everything works fine. I have
Apache, ftp, sshd running on this box. It is booted up and is currently
sitting at the KDE desktop loged in as a user.

I have a Windows XP based workstation that I want to connect to the
Linux box with. So, I installed ssh (client) in XP. I run the client,
set the options, and I connect without problem. I get a terminal screen
and can work fine. The only problem is when i run PICO, the display text
wrapping is all over the place... but anyway, that's not my problem.

I want to connect to the Linux box via my XP workstation and forward
X11. Not just applications, but the whole thing. I want the KDE desktop
x client running on my XP box.

Now, I setup ssh (client) to "Tunnel X11 Connections" but when I
login, I just get the $ prompt. I don't get anything else... I read
through some help's and howto's and made the required changes to
/etc/ssh/ssh_config and sshd_config files and restarted the ssh deamon
but still I only get the prompt. When I try and run an application from
the prompt, like "gedit', I get an error about killing the application.

Basically, I know there could be a multitude of solutions and
questions I need to answer myself before I get this to work. So, would
anyone have some words of wisdom for me or at the very least be able to
point me to a web site with "newbie" based instructions....

Thanks
