I apologize ahead of time for this not being an SSH question but we don't
seem to have any SSL groups available to us.
Is there anyway to use port forwarding with SSL to encrypt something which
is NOT POP/IMAP or any other email/internet protocol.
The application I'm using (Windows based and home grown) basically opens a
specific port on the server and passes data to it. All I want to do is
figure out which port I am using from the client (which is no problem, it's
written in JAVA) and encrypt the data from that port over to the specified
port on my HP-UNIX box which then starts up a deamon (written in C++).
I'm trying to use openssl and stunnel to do port forwarding but I keep
getting an "unknown protocol" error. I'm figuring it's because I'm not using
it for an internet/mail protocol but I'm not 100% sure.
To put it simple:
I have a client and I know the port I'm opening to connect to the server, I
also know which port I'm trying to connect to. Now I want to encrypt the
data being passed from the client's port to the server's port and vice
versa.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Marc
