hi thank you for the reply, if I knew what to read then I would read it. I
had this problem a long time ago but can't remember the solution. What are
the usuall steps for doing this correctly, I don't need pam, but thought I
would try it.

It says that pam was configured in, what file does it use for auth. ie is it
/etc/pam.d/sshd ?

Any online reading suggestions?
