ssh and cisco pix issues?

are there any known issues with ssh and the cisco pix?

ssh between windows and linux is sporadic at best, between vms and
windows is slightly better and between vms systems fails everytime.
the connection is dropped during key exchange. when i try this at
home where there is no pix i have no trouble. at work the network
group response is "port 22 is open everywhere." that may be true but
i suspect not the end of the story.
