I have successfully setup port forwarding using PuTTY under Windows
2000, and am able to telnet to SMTP and POP ports without a problem.
However Outlook 2000 times out and generates an error when I try
retrieving/sending email through it. I've tried using both localhost
and 127.0.0.1 as the host name; port numbers tried were 11110/3110
and 11125/3025.
Any recommendations? I will also want to use Norton AntiVirus's email
scanning with this set-up (but will be happy to just get it going
without it).
