I'm reading the snailbook (Barrett/Silverman)
and I understand most of the details, but I don't
learn very well that way. I'm better at analyzing
something that already "exists." I mean, I can take
something apart and understand it, but give me all
the parts and explain each part and I can't figure out
how to put them together. (If you have A.D.D. you'll
understand)
So, is there somewhere a tutorial in step-by-step
intelligence-insulting detail for setting up an
installation? Preferably one that's very paranoid
on the security aspects.
Once I get the "rough draft" set up, I'm sure I can
bounce what I read off it and see how each part fits
into the "big picture" and how to tweak it.
Another thing that would help me would be a detailed
description of the handshaking in establishing a
connection/session. The book has some of these, but
they are either too high-level for me to grok the details
or too fragmented for me to grasp the big picture.
