How to know a file transmission has just completed?

    I've a Solaris box which is running F-Secure. People send files to the
    server via sftp. I need to know when a transmission has just completed
    (I encrypt the files once they are on the server). I have a script which
    does "lsof" but it is very slow.

    Any help will be appreciated so much.
