This seems to be a basic question.
I cannot login from any host using ssh...
    These my steps:
I downloaded OpenSSH 3.0.2 source (and also installed
    openssl-0.9.6c.from source)
    ./configure --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl --with-pam
make && make install with no error
    [root@linuxbox openssh-3.0.2p1]# cp contrib/redhat/sshd.pam /etc/pam.d/
    (sshd is up)
    [eli@linuxbox openssh-3.0.2p1]$ ssh localhost
    eli@localhost's password:
    Permission denied, please try again.

    /var/log/message:
Dec 27 19:32:43 linuxbox sshd[16808]: Failed password for eli from
    127.0.0.1 port 1126 ssh2

    any suggestion?
    thank you happy new year
