Re: MS Active Directory Vs LDAP

Would someone who has used both do a comparison of the two. Reading
the description of Active Directory Microsoft authors boast that it is
rated "AAA" level of security, but looking back over time we see that
NT failed to quality for even C levels of Security, and the sources I
have read say that Active Directory came out of MS 2000, which
logically wouldn't have jumped light years ahead of NT.
I have researched these two directory services but would love to know
more from those who have used both of them in a hetrogenius
environment. It seems to me at this point that LDAP is the preferred
choice, but I'm open to hearing others opinions. Any opinions on
directory services that surpass both, or will surpass both would be of
interest as well.
Would it blow your mind to learn that Active Directory has a major piece
of it that is LDAP? But that is only one part of many.
So, the two are doing different tasks and jobs. Can't really compare
the two in an objective measure in this generic level of question.
