Leythos still provides neither numbers nor manufacturer
specs to prove his claims. Nothing has changed from many
times previously that Leythos repeats these speculations.
Meanwhile below are best spec numbers available from a UPS
manufacturer:
> SURGE PROTECTION AND FILTERING
> ...
> Normal mode clamping response time 0 ns, instantaneous
> Normal mode surge voltage let through <5% of test peak voltage
> when subjected to IEEE 587 Cat. A 6kVA test
> Normal mode noise suppression Full time EMI/RFI filtering
> Modem/10Base-T/100Base-Tx network cable port single line
> (2 wire, RJ11) or network (UTP, RJ45) compatible jacks
No mention of longitudinal mode protection even though
destructive surges are longitudinal mode. The most damning
part are reams of data that don't prove Leythos' claim. To
repeat what Leythos cannot challenge: the UPS manufacturer
neither claims nor provides numbers for effective protection.
And then we have the most damning indicator of ineffective
protection. Manufacturer specifications 1) never once discuss
earthing nor 2) indicate any dedicated connection to earth
ground. Manufacturer does not even give a number the the
amount (size) of protection from a destructive transient that
does not typically exist.
Leythos again will disparage the messenger rather than admit
he has no idea what makes effective protection. Somehow myth
and personal attacks are proof of protection. Leythos, after
how many posts, still will not provide numerical manufacturer
specs for his speculations. Still, somehow, he knows it must
provide protection. Reality: the protector is only as
effective as its earth ground. Where is that dedicated
connection from SU2200 to single point earth ground? Does not
exist - along with numbers that support Leythos' speculations.
The UPS is from protection of data from brownouts and
blackouts. Effective hardware protection from transients is
already inside that computer. Secondary protection is
installed at the service entrance (whole house protector) so
that internal computer protection is not overwhelmed. UPS
does not even claim to accomplish any of this.
