I will not join the bandwagon and flame you for whyou decide to look or
not look at on the 'Net (...judge ye not lest ye be judged...).
Privacy is inportant and even though there were several attacks here,
there were some very good ideas.
1) CCleaner -- good at cleaning all the temp data
2) Easy Cleaner -- cleaning some reg entries
3) Eraser -- you can set it to shred certain locations on a schedule.
Very good and thorough app.
If you have sensitive data you do not want others to accidentally view
(tax/income info, password lists, phone numbers, etc), you need to use a
file encryption tool as well as set up the XP permissions to only allow
certain people to have access to them. I personally have not had the
need for local file encryption, but my web page under "Tools of the
Trade" has my recommended freeware list, YMMV. Obviously I do not use
as much as others and as soon as I find a good file encrypter, I will
think about keeping my finances encrypted.
If you are (and I am not accusing you of this) viewing material on the
web or acting in such a way that is not representative of the way you
are normally at home, please reconsider you behavior. If you are just
wanting to keep smaller ones from seeing things that thyat are a touch
too mature to see, set up a special profile for them and have them log
on to it instead of you account. Turn off autocomplete and do not have
your PC auto save passords. This could allow others to access web mail
in your absence.
Windows TweakUI can clean up histories, etc and what it misses, the
others can take care of.
COnsider using Firefox or Mozilla. It will not save any history if you
set it to a paranoid setting :).
