You didn't mention antivirus. Do you have it? Updated?

Do you update your spyware tools regularly? (Not all of them will check
automatically, or even remind you when it's time to check for updates.)

Some "spyware removers" are actually spyware or cheats. Especially those
aggressively marketed on the web (you get something like 17 web pages
telling you that "you have a problem on your computer and we can fix
it"). See http://www.spywarewarrior.com for advice.

Other than this, I second Mr. Lawrence's advice on using an alternate
browser (or OS). Firefox is an excellent alternative to MSIE. Opera is
nice too, with some added functionality. In my experience, Opera does a
slightly better job at impersonating MSIE, but doesn't seem to get all
java objects working (some hierarchy trees don't collapse when using
Opera).
There are other browsers out there, too. Some with a nice reputation. I
haven't tested any others recently, so I won't offer further advice.
