Well, that may be true if you've just started self employment - banks
tend to look at that more as "self employed while looking for a real
job". But after a few years at it, the banks accept that you really are
working for yourself.

But your point is correct: the banks don't usually seem to care about
the possibilities of layoffs or restructuring.
