AMD vs. Intel doesn't make a difference when it comes to hard drives.
And the consumer computers never have any kind of proprietary software
(unless you count Windows as one), that would prevent reading the
drive on another computer. And the BIOS problem is very rare too.
BUT, having said all this; I think the most likely event would be
that there OP (or anyone in the same situation) doesn't know anyone
who would know how to do that, or even that it is possible.
If everyone knew, or at least knew someone who knew, how to fix
computers, and plug in hard drives, there wouldn't be a market for
GeekSquad etc.
Kind of like with cars; not everyone knows how to fix them, nor does
everyone have a cousin who fixes cars.
