    Thanks for the help, Thor. Checking all files in a directory doesn't
    show the Compatability tab, but checking by grouped extension does,
    even though it's a lot more fiddly than seems reasonable to expect of
    a user by a professionally produced software program. My conclusion is
    that I have no executable files set to run in compatability mode, so it
    puzzles me why I get the 3019.6 error message.

    Incidentally, the Norton instructions were not to examine each
    executable file but to "examine each file". Even had the
    instructions been to examine each executable, that assumes a user can
    recognize executable files, which is by no means a reasonable
    assumption. My conclusion is that I have only exe files as executable
    and that these files are not executable: cat, chm, dat, def, dll, grd,
    html, inf, log, lvr, mbk, nsi, rul, sig, sys, tlb, tpl, txt, vxd, xml.
    But perhaps I am wrong. Anyway, none of these files show a
    Compatability tab.
