hello folks,
not sure if this is appropriate for this group; accept my apologies if
i am in the wrong place.
i am looking for some help in pointing a colleague in the right
direction. i work at a university as a sys admin and have been
approached by a graduate student who is interested in network/systems
security from an International Relations/Political Science perspective.
he has an intermediate understanding of the technology at play, and a
decent understanding of security principles. I have made some
thoughtful recommendations in terms of technical materials and
resources to review, but I am at a loss for recommendations that give
treatment to the political perspectives. he is specifically interested
in "higher-stakes" network security and potential effects (crypto,
elections, weapons systems, communication and control, corporate
espionage, nation-state network filtering, etc.).
there are lots of texts that cover these topics, but i just don't know
which ones are worth the paper they are printed on, and i don't have
time to read them myself for verification. does anybody have any
recommendation that i might impart to this academic researcher?
any info would be greatly appreciated...
