You can use the Linux 2.6 series kernel with crypto-loop functionality
to encrypt the entire drive, partition tables and all. I boot from a
usb flash drive that contains my /boot partition, and enables the
encryption/decryption by reading a pass-phrase at boot time. Once the
system is booted, the usb flash-drive can be removed. If you need M$
functionality, you could always run vmware on top of linux. I do not
know hardly anything about M$ products, as I do not use them, so I do
not know if this can be done directly with M$ only, but I know linux can
do it, and vmware can do M$ under linux, so the underlying linux would
handle the crypto stuff transparently for the M$ stuff.
