You can encrypt it yes. But a bulk video eraser can mess up magnetic
media, laser can mess up optical, etc.

There just is no easy way to make rugged stuff, that no one can screw
with. What exactly is your application? Why not physically secure the
media, and or computers? This will make setting up permission sets
easier. Hell the military can do it, can't be that hard, just very
expensive.

Rip out the floppy and CDROM, glue up the nic and USB ports, etc.
