folder missing ?

Twice in the last month a certain folder has disappeared from the drive.
It was a collection of jpg files that I store on a large (USB connected)
external drive. After the second time they turned up missing,
including the folder I have began encrypting all of them and now I even
disconnect the external drive.

I ran Spybot and Ad-aware but nothing turns up. I keep ZoneAlarm with
Antivirus running and I keep getting a notice that DVZMSGR.EXE
is trying to connect the net and I deny. It is either some software for the
new palm pilot or something from Zonealarm. It says in a text file that it
is licensed by Apache but does not say what the hell it is or does.

Any suggestions out there in Security Land ?
I run a P3 WIN98
Thanks in advance for any help
Allen
