ZA affects my online gaming

HI!
I enjoy playing online games and since I have installed Zone Alarm Pro 4.5
there is something wrong with the connection. I can connect to remote
servers and play but with ZA operating i keep experiencing kind of time lags
(frame freezing) which makes playing impossible. However there is nothing
wrong with my ping. After I shut down ZA everything is smooth and fast as it
should be.
Can anybody help?
