  I do (and did) fully understand. The point is that while you may be
"staggered if it's not possible", that (it is not possible) is still a
fact. I think that a lot of people in the audience will think that
*you* are pedantic, because you seem to be unwilling to accept reality/
facts. If you are 'quite happy to use a "legal" one', then you must
*own* [1] that IP, plain and simple.

[1] "own" in this context means that at the moment you use it, it's
yours, i.e. a DHCP assigned address is fine as well.
