    right click on start, explore
    tools,
    folder options,
    view
    scroll to the bottom of the 'advanced options' list
    uncheck the 'use simple file sharing (Recommended)' box.
    ok.

    This lets you see the file protection options and take ownership.
    next, use explore and go to the folder in question. right click on it and go
    to properties; go to the security tab; advanced; owner

    Give yourself ownership of the folders.

    You should now be able to access them.
