    I believe you are partially correct. To my understanding, the new process is
    slightly changed, in that the software is fully enabled for 15-days, from
    initial install without a license. To continue use after 15-days (in effect,
    a built-in evaluation period) you will need to have purchased and install a
    valid license.

    You still are directed to request the CD or download from an authorized
    vendor, partner. From a practical point of view, very few people report any
    success in getting a copy, unless they are already a customer or are a hot
    prospect. From all appearances, CheckPoint is embarking on a very stringent
    policy of restricting their product exposure to uncontrolled sources. That
    last bit is a personal observation, opinion. Further, these changes seem to
    be strongly linked to the revelations of the 2000 security conference, as is
    he development of NG-AI and the new test/certifications so hastily
    implemented.
