You didn't mention if this just recently happened after many years of good
service by your mouse or that this is a new mouse and it's just started
happening...
Normally, mouse freezes occurs mainly in older Windows systems where there
are conflicting IRQ settings... I'd check with your system settings and see
if there are any hardware conflicts first before I'd blame it on viruses...
