Despite our diametrially opposed viewpoints, I'm glad you're taking the

Nope. I don't agree. If I get a job at a company, every else after that
is negotiable. Sometimes, like this time, I lose.

That's true of ANY site. Why put a block in place for, as in this case,
an SSL connection on a non-standard port? What makes that, in itself,
more likely of a dangerous download or exploit?

In my 40s, programming since I was 11 and writing Basic and Macro-11 under
RSTS/E.
I've been fired twice. The first time was for teasing the boss about his
authoritarian attitude
when it came to certain technical decisions -- he was making truly bad
choices, and it came
to him saying "Because I'm the Boss, that's why!" I couldn't respect that.
By the way, the "blathering" in the title of this email was referring to the
conversation as a whole,
not to anyone in particular.
