After watching wayyyy to many violent movies as a child, PCportinc spake:

I can give you half a perspective: specifically, I have the certification
but I don't work in security so I can't tell you how it fares in the
field.
If you look at as an introductory certification, something comparable to
the Network+ exam for networking, I think it fills its niche well. More
than anything else, if someone starts talking about PKI or system
hardening, they won't sound like they're talking in a foreign language.
You should know enough that you can decide whether or not you would want
to set up an IDS, and if so, where to get started.
If I hiring someone for a security position, I'd look at someone with this
certification as someone who should have a pretty steap learning curve,
but certainly not someone who could be plugged in right away, unless their
other qualifications merits it.
