No. E.g. see the following scenario:
Windows: Here's a mail with Big-Tits.jpg attached.
User (male): (I wanna see it) clicks on the attachment
Windows: Uh, this is really a program, not a picture, so I'll
             just run it. Virus? Wassatmean?

Linux: Here's a mail with Big-Tits.jpg attached.
User (male): (I wanna see it) clicks on the attachment
Linux: Uh, this is definitely not a picture. Now
             what?

See the difference in the design philosophies, and the results?
Windows tries to trick the user because Bill Knows Best.

Besides, Linux doesn't have Active-X, which is even worse than
Java***.

To the OP (grunes):
Do not have a partition for backup. Instead, you have self-booting
CD-ROM (e.g. Knoppix) and a write protected floppy disk with your
commands. And you make backups religiously, because Murphy will strike
you down if you don't.

(Actually, he'll strike you down anyway, but the damage will be much
smaller.)
