It's not just ComCast, it's most Cable providers. I've been on Road
Runner for a very long time and can count on one hand how many times my
IP was changed by them. Once I learned to change my MAC address I could
move myself around in their subnets to get on a segment that had better
performance. Since they route traffic through several paths in our area,
it was common to move from one subnet to another during the time when
the kids where in school, then another when they were away.

If you have DSL or Cable and don't already have at least a Router with
NAT, you need to get one. I used a router with NAT and never had
anything make it in during the 3 years I was using it. I bought a
business class service and have a WatchGuard Firebox firewall now (a
true firewall appliance)....
