Last Week we discovered that our credit card account had been charged for 4
AT&T internet accounts that were obviously set up in February. We looked
back at our bills, which we usually just pay, and there were the charges.
The rep told me she saw no usage but she obviously only looked at this last
month. The first month showed a regular fee, like a monthly or sign up fee.
The second month however showed higher fees on each account, all different,
which to me looks like usage. The last month, showed only 4 charges of $5.95
each, which to me looks like a basic monthly charge. This seems to coincide
with my purchasing and beginning to use the Norton Firewall on my computer.
My question is, is this just a coincidence, or could someone have had these
accounts and used them somehow through my computer until I put up the
firewall? Would they need my computer once they had my cc info and had set
up the 4 accounts? I don't know a lot about all of this, but I have noticed
since I got the firewall many hits from some IP named AT&T BI or some
variant of same. Am I Just being paranoid or should I be looking on my
computer for any files they may have left behind?
I thank you for your time.
