802.11b:Basic Information needed

Hello, everybody,

I'm no expert nor engineer. But I do need to know 802.11b's basics, as
a marketer.

I would like to know the followings. Could anyone give me some
information ?

1.For what purpose can you use adhoc mode ?
    Can a mobile PC or PDA with wireless LAN card exchange files
directly with other mobile PC or PDA with wireless LAN card, without
entering LAN (not via AP) ?

   Also I heard adhoc mode has a huge potential. It seems to imply
adhoc mode can create peer to peer network of large scale. It seems to
mean you can exchange files without ISP network nor public lines. Is
this understanding correct ?

2.Security Issue
   I heard a big concern on 802.11b and/or wireless technologies
general is a security. To secure the communication using wireless
technology, WEP has been devised. But it is not perfect, I heard. Is
there any prospect of a reliable tech being made for wireless security
any time soon ?

3.Future prospect for wireless
   It is said that a half of big companies will adopt wireless such as
802.11b by the year of 2005. Do you agree ? Isn't the security issue a
significant obstacle against the prevalence ?

4.Web sites for.802.11b Basics
   I would like to know good sites for learning 802.11b which are easy
to understand. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
