What the heck does "telnet RPC standard" mean? TELNET is not based on any
form of RPC (Remote Procedure Call), and in fact predates most RPC
protocols by decades.

TELNET is just ordinary TCP/IP traffic. It's not secured in any way, no
matter what client you use, unless you're using a client and server that
support an encryption option (but these days, SSH has mostly replaced
TELNET and RLOGIN as the secure remote login protocol).
