XP firewall is inadequate.
I suggest you get a firewall (zonealarm or outpost) and install it.
It sounds as if you may have a trojan. - try the cleaner from moosoft.com
Run netstat -an from a cmd prompt to see what ports are listening.
Check out the ports at www.onctek.com

You should also be able to check what the event log entries mean using the
weblink feature.
