I wish it were that simple...
A few months ago I bought a home computer. Thus far I've been using a
laptop that belongs to my employer. The home computer is used for
processing photographs. No Internet, I'll use the work computer for
that.
When running a colour calibration utility that came with the scanner (I
think) the show stopped at the last screen that wanted to connect to the
Internet for final adjustment. The Internet isn't needed to fiddle the
settings of the graphics card, so the connection must be for registering
my actions.
But the machine still isn't connected. It won't be in the foreseeable
future. If I need to transfer data, I'll use the employer's machine and
floppies or CD-Rs.
Stinks. Applications that have no use for the 'net won't work without
it...
