Downloaded Norton Internet Files

Hi,

Can anyone help me with a question please about Norton Internet Security
2001.
Can all of the downloaded files e.g virus updates and security updates etc,
be saved off out of the Norton program?
As I have to re-install my hard drive and if I do it I will lose all of the
downloaded files,
and I will have to re-download them again.
The last time I had a problem with Norton and I uninstalled it,
I had to re-download about 12MB of updates again.

I did try to save the folders on another drive as a backup and after the
re-install,
I copied and pasted them from the backup to the C:\ drive.
This caused no end of problems with the program.
