Then you just piss off everyone with a religious bent every time you produce a
message-ID with 666 in it.

I say again - what's the fuss over rude message-IDs? It's a random string.
You might as well complain that the base64 or uuencoded encoding of your
latest email attachment contains rude words. If I searched carefully, I could
probably even find one that contains a couple of rude phrases! It's known to
be a somewhat random, machine-generated piece of nonsense for reading by
machines, rather than for a human being's interest.

The obvious answer, though, as usual, is to limit the alphabetic characters
used to only consonants (and treat 'y' as a vowel). You won't be spelling
anything in English (but you might upset some people in parts of Eastern
Europe, where the vowel shortage continues, and I'm sure that you'll produce
something usefully disgusting in Klingon).

Alun.
