and I checked "Access to HTTP Proxy Servers" But I am still able to
get to sites via these proxy sites that shoulf be blocked...

Any advice?

Interestingly, my problem is the opposite of you.

I have been trying for last three days and couldn't get any proxy
server to work on my box.

I have xpsp2, Firefox1.5.

There is your problem right there. If I have XPSP2
on my gateway box, I cannot connect to any of
the proxies, becuase of the Windows firewall. If
I use SP1, there is no problem. You might want
to see if you can get a hold of a version with
SP1, and see if that will do the trick. You will
just need a third-party firewall solution to protect
your network.
