That is very true.

The only way to "fix" this is to either:
A) buy a hub and connect everyone to that, then the sniffer will work,
or,
b) buy a managed switch, and do as in A. Then you can turn on/off port
monitoring so you can sniff out traffic to/from only specified ports and
only when needed...
