Would it not be more prudent to only ever allow management from the inside,
and use say an ssh tunnel or a vpn to a PC inside the router to manage it?
Obviously a restart of the router will result in loss of the connection, but
normally this will cause the management connection to be lost too. At least
you benefit from an encrypted connection to your system, and also from not
having a simple http authorisation login exposed to the rest of the world.
