All NETGEAR router ports are closed by default to incoming traffic. (No
port is closed to outgoing traffic.)

The above was in the link below. So why would one have to ensure outbound
on the router?

I understand that as I have opened a port or two on the router and
BlackIce for Web services to the public Internet, in addition to opening
inbound ports for RDS over the Internet. I have also open inbound ports
on the Watchguard too.

The link seems to be indicating inbound ports on the router which AOL
ports 5190-5193 are being explained need to be open/port forwarded on the
Netgear router.

Maybe, the link is a misprint or the Netgear is a ??????
