Bothersome FTP Problem

I am on a private network with 3 computers. While uploading from one
system using Dreamweaver, I was suprised when the transfer slowed and
finally died. I tried again and again. No workie!

This FTP connection is the same that we have used for months
successfully. Strangely enough, I was able to make the transfer from
another computer fine. Same FTP info and settings (Active and Passive
modes both tried).

So the only variable seems to be that the hosting company did a kernel
upgrade on their server.

How could this affect only one of our systems?

Any ideas?
