The ISA server machine does not use the firewall client so you have to
set up packet filters for each protocol to allow the programs on the ISA
machine to access the internet. Make sure you have packet filtering
enabled. For your browsers or other programs which use http and cannot
use proxy settings you need to set up the HTTP redirection filter to
either go direct or redirect requests to the Web proxy service.
As far as non-webproxy or socks aware programs the firewall client will
handle most on Win machines. You simply need to set up protocol
definitions within "policy elements" and then assign the allowed
protocols within protocol rules under "access policies".
For your webserver you need to set up a web publishing rule. If you are
only accessing the web server internally you can skip the web publishing
rule and just configure your web proxy settings to not use the proxy
service for internal addresses or specific servers....whatever you
desire. Also make sure you set up your incoming and outgoing web
listeners found in the server properties in the management console.
