Have you checked to see if there are any incoming connect attempts?. I
had the same problem recently only this time under Norton internet
security 2003. I managed to open up the data tracking facility and
noted that i was being bombarded by incoming connect attempts. It
looked like a port scan becuase the incoming attempts were coming in
on sequentially numbered ports and just counting up. I'm no expert in
these matters. My PC was fully engaged and as described,was more or
less locked up.
