I knew it would be something simple. I set the primary configuration for
the laptop to manual, and the alternates to automatic (now and then i do
take it out for business etc, nice to be able to have it "automagically"
configure itself to whatever it gets plugged into). Made no changes to
desktops, both are still automatic. Works great now. Thanx...

Also... New to the whole firewall idea, don't seem to be getting as many
blocked packets as most people do.. any more info on how to PROPERLY
configure the firewall side of the router to get the best protection?
(prefer both Inbound AND outbound if possible)....
