First, assuming a MS Server, put it behind a router and then map ports.
This only exposes the exact things you want to expose.
In addition to the firewall, get a good antivrius applications (Symantec
Small Business Edition 8.1 is great).
I can't suggest a software firewall, but the router will be most
beneficial to your security.
