I had a good win the other day with TightVNC.

[intro to rant]

A new client had rung up wanting a site-to-site VPN setup as their
'expert consultants' couldn't make it play.
THey were using Pcanywhere to control one box via dial-in (and this was
a point of sale system).
Went there, set up VPN, configured everything, tested app - found it
sloooooww over VPN. Rexconfigured PCA to control other PC over VPN.
Cause of slowness is the app is mucky and creates massive amounts of
transactional files, directory reads therefore a nightmare over a
slowish link.

in comes 'expert consultant' stating that windoze terminal services will
fix all problems (upgrade server, etc etc etc) - basically a 10K fix
He rings me, I tell him to get a 2nd hand PC (app only needs p400/64mb
to run) and whack tightvnc on it. A $400 fix.

I really hate consultants that go for the most expensive, time consuming
dumb ass solution imaginable....
