I know a guy who owns a security consulting business. A rather successful
one. He has said on numerous occasions "there is no money in Linux, period."

His company, while they do some Linux work, generally avoids Linux users. We
talked about this at length recently. The problem is that Linux users, by
and large, are used to getting everything for free. As such, there is no way
to build a business around such a model. He focuses on enterprise security
solutions and Windows. And its a wise model, since numerous other security
firms in the area have come and gone and his company is still around.

As for me, I think there is some reason behind it. I have no plans to start
my own business. But if I did, I'd probably avoid Linux as well. I'd
probably focus on Solaris or Windows consulting.
