Hi

Firstly, i'm not a so called firewall specialist and i try to understand how
to protect my pc the best i can, but my knowledge, in this, is limited. So
that's why i post a message in this newsgroup to have some more informations
cause it seems that there's many peoples here who have a good knowledge of
internet protection and there's also some others who respond the way they
are (as assholes), i don't wanna have the response from them.. So, there's
my questions, hoping to have a good response.

There's only five line to configure my Linksys router to block or to filter
some ports. From my point of view that's not enough but i don't have any
more choices.. But is there some major ports or critical port's ranges that
i have to filter in these five line port's range.

In another way, can someone tell me a good configuration of a LinkSys Router
(the BEFSR41 ver 3) i tried so many things, that now i can't access some web
pages and i still can access some other. And i configured my router by doing
a netstat -n -a telling me which ports are used with no applications running
on the internet. I configured it also by consulting the most used ports in a
banned ip page of a firewall software and finally by consulting web pages
providing some informations about this.

I need to know a personnal view of the best filtered ports that a linksys
router can have (My router is a BEFSR41 ver. 3).

Could anyone help me.

I would really appreciate it

Sincerely

André Hallé
