For Christ's sake, why don't you simply look through the settings and
configure it not to behave in the way you dislike?

If you had tried that, then you would have found, as I have, that you can
do exactly what you want.

Go to Alerts and Logs, press the Advanced button and choose the System Tray
Alert tab. There you will see a box where you can untick "enable system
tray icon alert".

Easy.

As the other poster said, I prefer it to change to show me that stuff is
going on.
